Cantina Meroni Winery, Velvet Textured Wines a Short Drive from Verona

A short drive away from a splendid city of Verona, the Cantina Meroni Winery is located in one of the five provinces of Valpolicella Classica DOC – Sant’Ambrogio. Following the footsteps of their ancestors, today, the third generation of the Meroni Family is handling the winery by using traditional methods for wine production. Their velvet-colored wines tell the story of the rich history of the Meroni Family. Since 1935, Cantina Meroni uses the grapes that come from the two estates, Sengia and Maso, located in the valley of San Giorgio that house a beautiful Romanesque Parish church. The other farm of the estate is situated in Grola, the region where Recioto and Amarone were born.

The Creation of Delectable Amarone and Recioto Della Valpolicella Wines

At present, the Meroni brothers of Cantina Meroni own 15 hectares of land, out of which 11 hectares of land is dedicated to the production of high-quality grapes. They grow various types of vines in their vineyards, which include top-quality Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. Under Amarone and Recioto Della Valpolicella DOCG status, they produce rich-quality red, white and dessert wines.

Olive Oil Production and Barrels in the Cellar at Cantina Meroni Winery

The remaining four hectares of the estate is devoted to the plantation of olive groves and woods to maintain the natural balance of the region. They produce delicious extra virgin olive oils which can be purchased during your stay at the winery. The historic cellar of the estate has been renovated into a modern-styled cellar, taking care of nature and family traditions of winemaking. It consists of steel tanks where the grapes are fermented under an appropriate atmosphere. Their cellar also has classic Slavonian oak barrels of 20-25 Hl for the effective aging and refinement of the wines for about 6 to 24 months.
