A blend of both tradition and modernism in the Loire Valley

Outstanding Terrain for the Creation of Excellent Wine Production

If you are a wine lover and ever happen to be in Loire Valley, don’t forget to visit Haute Perche winery. This estate benefits from a superb location. Moreover, it produces wines from two appellations: Anjou Villages Brissac and Coteaux de l’Aubance. The Anjou Villages Brissac appellation area is located around the Château de Brissac Quincé. In fact, it is the highest castle in France. The proximity of the winery to the Loire River, the longest river in France, leads to excellent aging potential. Due to its ability of good aging, the winery produces wines rich in sweetness and freshness. The Coteaux de l’Aubance appellation area is located on the left bank of the Loire “l’Aubance.” This area provides enough moisture for noble rot which gives the soft feel and an amazing taste to these wines.

Biodynamic Transformation in the Haute Perche Winery

Agnès and Christian Papin founded the Haute Perche Winery in 1966 in the village of Saint Melaine sur Aubance near Angers (Anjou, Loire Valley). From 2012 on their daughter Véronique has run the winery for 7 years and finally decided to hand it over to a Parisian accountant, passionate about wine. Veronique already had initiated the conversion to organic production and the new owner is now making the necessary investments to make the next step towards BIODYNAMIE. The vineyards are cared for with the natural cycles of the plants, the moon, and the entire ecosystem taken into consideration. The physical, spiritual, and soulfoul body of the Earth are all constantly represented. The winery offers guided visits through both vineyard and cave on request (Price: 5 to 10€, depending on age and number of persons). It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover the exclusive view over the river «Aubance» from our plot in the Coteau and get to know more about the process from grapes to wine.
