Solera Winery, Wine Production for Over 200 Years

Solera Winery has been producing delicious wines of Madrid for 200 years. Residing in the most conventional winemaking hamlet of Colmenar de Oreja, the winery combines location with winemaking tradition to bring excellent Spanish wines to the market. The estate uses traditional and manual methods of wine production coupled with advanced technologies in their cellar. Solera Winery has acertification for producing award-winning organic wines, made within the D.O Madrid Region.

Vineyards Dating Back 60 Years at Solera Winery

The vineyards of Solera Winery stretch over an area of 17 hectares, some of which are 60 years old. Two kinds of grapes are grown, using traditional farming methods that express the legacy of the family. The grapes include high-quality Tempranillo and Malvar, a white varietal common to the Madrid wine growing region. After picking these grapes manually, the juiciest bunches are transported to the cellar for fermentation. The winery produces certified organic wines, which include luscious red wines and white wines, all under the DO Madrid labels.

Modern Cellar, with Homage to Tradition in Clay Jars for Aging and Storage

Bordered by fig-trees, pines, rose bushes, and woods the cellar of Solera Winery is located on Malcasado Street, adding to the mesmerizing appeal of the winery. Inside the cellar, there are numerous clay jars for storing wines, paying homage to ancient winemaking techniques. The cellar also consists of stainless steel tanks, equipped with temperature control function, for high-quality fermentation. Both French and American oak barrels are used for aging and maturation of Tempranillo and Malvar.

Bodegas Solera also has a small bottling room, located in the part of the estate. Today, the winery is part of the family of 45 other wineries, belonged to the Wines Denomination of Origin of Madrid.
