Terra dei Re, Close to Beautiful Lakes

In the heart of Aglianico del Vulture, Terra dei Re Winery is wonderfully positioned in Basilicata, a region surrounded by rolling hills and forests, in southern Italy. The winery is a short drive away from the Lakes Monticchio. The Vineyards spanover an area of 31 hectares in the regions of Barile, Rapolla, Melfi, and Rionero. These areas are suitable for the production of top-quality Aglianico del Vulture DOC wines, such as Piano di Carro, Macarico, Colignelli, and Calata Delle Brecce. Most of the vine plants are 40 years old with a density of about 9000 grapes per hectare. Together with Aglianico del Vulture, the Leone brothers grow fruity Pinot Nero, Malvasia Bianca.

The Hope of Terra dei Re is a Success

Terra dei Re Winery was started by Guiseppe Nigro, the grandfather of Leone brothers – the present-day owners of the estate in the mid 19th century. Later in the mid 20th century, the winemaking business was shut down due to economic crises of the wine sector. Since then, the mother of Leone brothers lived with a hope that one day her sons would restart the family traditions which eventually they did. In the year 2000, the brothers resumed the family business and established the lovely Terra dei Re Winery.

Taste Delicious Dessert Wines from Basilicata

The newly built wine cellar of the winery is resting on the land of four hectares, located in the beautiful province of Rionero in Vulture – Basilicata. Using modern technology, in combination with conventional methods, the owner produces rich-quality red and white wines, together with sweet dessert and sparkling wines under the Basilicata DOCG, DOC and IGP statuses. The aging and refinement of these delicious wines take place in wooden oak barrels and barriques.
