The History of Château de Berne Château de Berne sits in the junction of Via Aurelia Roman Road, which further links Italy to Spain. People have been using this road for the wine trade for centuries. Cultivation of vines on this land started from the Roman times. The amphora transported the precious liquid of this site, as an evidence of the vineyard. In the 12th century, Raymond V and the Count of Toulouse donated the estate to Saint Bernard. The monks made a home here and started nurturing the rich soil of the area.
