Fourth-generation family winery making Sancerre wines with modern techniques

Domaine De La Chezatte, the Result of Four Successive Generations

Domaine de la Chezatte, located on a peak of the Loire Valley, consists of winegrowers since four successive generations who combine their traditional values, hard work, and winemaking know-how to make natural, fruity wines loved by wine enthusiasts all over the world. In 1977, the estate had 20 hectares of vineyards along with a cooling chamber and two harvesting bins. They even purchased a mechanical grape-harvester, which was the first of its kind in the Sancerre region. Currently, the fourth generation of the family runs the estate, and they have installed thermos-regulated vats and a new bottling machine, DEPALETISEUR, that can bottle 4500 bottles in an hour. After the restructuring, their estate now boasts 30 hectares of vines, out of which 24 are right next to the wine cellar.

Spectacular Grapes by the Winery

Two-thirds of the soil is clayey, while the remaining consists of limestone. It helps the vines to retain heat and the growth of high-quality grapes. As the vines lie on the hills, the microclimate is also perfect for growing grapes. The main grape varieties that grow in their vineyards include Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are divided into five parcels and are harvested using the mechanical harvester. The best grapes are taken to the cellar and used to make their famous red, white, and rose wines. Wines of the Sancerre region are being produced since ancient times but are now renowned all over the world. The wines have a unique taste and reflect the distinct features of the Loire Valley terroir and their winemaking techniques.
