Where is Gigondas?

Gigondas is one of the most stunning wine appellations in Rhône Valley, located in south-eastern France.

History of Gigondas Wine Appellation

The name of the Gigondas wine appellation is derived from Roman roots, and in Latin it means pleasure. The town was founded as a recreational site for the soldiers from the Roman Empire's Second Legion. This finding indicates that wine was already grown at this time. The wines from this region have been around a long time and were even awarded a medal at the Parisian agricultural fair in 1894.

Gigondas is a type of grape that comes from the Côtes du Rhône region spanning France. The variety typically has around 10% Carignan in it. This taste is distinct and often described as earthy, green, and velvet-textured with notes of blackberry jam. Delicious rosé wine is a favorite drink during the summer months.
