What do wineries in Sicily offer?

Wineries in Sicily (mainland and smaller islands) offer a wide range of facilities that will make your visit unforgettable and perfect.
All wineries in Sicily have reduced mobility access in order to welcome all their guests, and many of them allow pet owners to bring their pets. Some wineries have activities specifically for kids so their parents can enjoy their wine tasting experiences and almost all wineries in Sicily have parking spaces for busses. This is less common in wineries on the small islands.
A very limited number of wineries have an accommodation but several more have a restaurant where you can enjoy local specialities paired with amazing wines. Check our Q&A below to discover the wineries in Sicily that offer these services.

What type of wine is Sicily known for?

Sicily is known for producing excellent wines made from the Nero d'Avola grape variety. Nero d'Avola is Sicily's most important indigenous red grape and is grown throughout the island. It yields robust, full-bodied red wines with flavors of dark fruit, spice, and sometimes a hint of chocolate. Sicily is also renowned for its Marsala wine, a fortified wine with a rich history and diverse range of styles, from dry to sweet.

What is the national drink of Sicily?

The national drink of Sicily is typically considered to be Marsala. Marsala is a fortified wine produced in the region of Marsala, located in western Sicily. It is made by fortifying wine with a distilled spirit, typically brandy, and is known for its rich, amber color and complex flavors. Marsala is versatile and can be enjoyed as an aperitif, dessert wine, or used in cooking to enhance various dishes. It holds a significant cultural and historical significance in Sicilian cuisine and traditions.
