Matteoli winery: small quantity and high quality
The Matteoli is a small wine company in the San Sano area, located in the hills of the Gaiole town in Chianti. The owner was born at this place and has a deep bond with his homeland. The company uses manual processes to make limited quantity but high-quality Chianti Classico D.O.C.G wines every year. The production is low, and the winery allows the personalization of the packing and labels that make every bottle of their wine different and unique.
Perfect climatic conditions for great wines
The soil in Chianti has a lot of marls and limestone that favours vine cultivation. The vines have great exposure to the sun, and the microclimate is also ideal. Even though the Chianti Classico Consortium controls the characteristics of their wines, the perfect natural conditions here allow them to make a truly unique wine with a distinct style and taste. The Sangiovese grape grows predominantly here along with Merlot, Malvasia, and Trebbiano. Apart from the Chianti Classico wines, the extra virgin olive oil and the Vinsanto DOC obtained from Malvasia and Trebbiano complete the production.
Vinsanto: a sweet pleasure
The Vinsanto is a dessert wine made with Malvasia and Trebbiano. The wine ferments for three years in sealed wooden barrels during which it gets a great aroma. The aroma is a mix of dried fruits, honey, and toasted almonds. Vinsanto is also a basic ingredient for the Aperisanto, the fizzy and fresh aperitif of Matteoli winery.
At the selling point of the winery in Gaiole, guests can taste the wines and Aperisanto along with the best regional food
