The Roots of Sabbionare Winery

The Sabbionare winery has its roots in a small vineyard left by Giuseppe Paolucci to his son Sauro and daughter-in-law Donatella, who together with the vineyard inherited passion and love for winemaking. This love Giuseppe invested in the care of his grapes, so much so that this activity became their main occupation. In 1985, the grapes were just about to be harvested when farmer Sauro Paolucci approached oenologist Sergio Paolucci and offered him a taste of his white home wine. Could Sergio imagine using this Verdicchio to make a high-quality product? His vineyard spanned half an acre. Sergio took a deep breath and made his decision. He hadn’t regretted it until today.

The Region of The Winery

To date, the Sabbionare winery’s Verdicchio is one of the greatest in the region. The winery is located in Montecarotto, in the Marche of the province of Ancona. The commune is located at an altitude of 388 meters above sea level, in a hilly area between the Esino Valley and the Misa Valley, surrounded by the picturesque Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. Castelli di Jesi is represented as an artistic and cultural centre, bringing together a number of municipalities with a medieval character suggested by old fortresses. All of this is set against a scenic mountainous terrain that, when combined with the geometry of the cultivated fields, creates a magnificent mosaic effect which can be appreciated from various standpoints around the area.
