Black Chalk Winery, Award-Winning Winery in Hattingley Valley

Black Chalk Winery is considered one of the most exciting new wineries to hit the English wine market. Jacob, an experienced winemaker, creates wines that are vibrant, pure, and filled with potential. The winery makes small batches of English sparkling wines using only the best handpicked local English grapes. In 2009, a member of their family left his job and decided to start his winemaking career. Now Jacob Leadley is an award-winning winemaker for his wines in the Hattingley Valley.

Black Chalk Winery was first conceptualized during a family and friends dinner, the winemaker, then and there, decided to make small batch sparkling wines from local grape varieties.

Dream Winery Built in the Test Valley

Black Chalk Winey uses different artists to “draw ideas on a canvas” before making their masterpieces come to life. The winery crafts each wine giving it the appropriate time to age, allowing Black Chalk wines to stand out from other English wines. The owner is currently building his own winemaking facility in the stunning Test Valley. Over one million British pounds have been raised to build the dream winery with modern technology and machines required for winemaking. In addition to the winery, Black Chalk Winery owns 30 hectares of vineyards in the region’s best areas.

Grape Varieties at the Winery

The main grape varieties grown at their winery are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Precoce. The best grapes are handpicked and used to make their award-winning sparkling wines. Currently, the winery has an elegant tasting room to hold exquisite tastings for guests.
