Bodegas Marcelino Diaz- Winery acquiring Solid Prestige
In Extremadura, western Spain, lies the Bodegas Marcelino Diaz winery. Since 1931, there has been a close link to viticulture and winemaking in Extremadura. This was a family tradition started by Mr. Marcelino Díaz Sánchez, who in those distant days set out to revitalize Extremaduran viticulture in terms of quality, acquiring solid prestige.
Winery Combining the Concepts of Quality, Tradition, and Modernity
Later his heir and follower Marcelino Díaz González, pioneer and promoter of modern Extremadura enology, after a wide and extensive experience of more than forty years making high-quality wines, began the development of a great personal project, creating his wineries. Bodegas Marcelino Díaz, SA was born to develop the production, aging, and bottling of Puerta Palma wines and cavas, combining the concepts of quality, tradition, and modernity.
Currently, the winery is managed by Carmina Vázquez Arroyo, who continues with the production of these great wines and cavas under the advice of Marcelino Díaz and the collaboration of his children.
Different Grape Varieties
The Díaz Vázquez family has its vineyards, from which the grapes are obtained which, duly processed, will give rise to the Cavas and Puerta Palma and Theodosivs wines. The staff at the winery collects the grapes Macabeo , Pardina, and Tempranillo at the right time, combining factors of acidity, glucose content and phenolic maturity, in the case of reds. Their transformation into wines is carried out using the most appropriate mechanical means and technology in each case.
Light, harmonic, and fruity white and rosé wines are obtained, with high expression and well-structured reds, which when aged in new American oak barrels and bottles, acquire the complexity and elegance that characterize their wines. The wines are classified and sold under labels such as CAVA and RIBERA DEL GUADIANA WINES. The prime categories of wine are red, white, rose, and sparkling wines.
