Discover Château Bonneau Gouze
Château Bonneau Gouze has been the property of the Gouze family since 1922. When Marc Gouze inherited the property in 1958, he modernized the cellars and planted vines to reach the current surface area of 9 ha.
The Terroir of Château Bonneau Gouze
The vineyards have clay-limestone uplands, clayey coasts, and sandy-clay soils. Château Bonneau Gouze grows 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The age of the vineyards are 35-40 years, which allows the vine to produce grapes with great concentration. Winemaking takes place in concrete and stainless steel vats. These vats have thermoregulation that allows more precision in winemaking, especially for white and rosé wines. Malolactic fermentation takes place in vats as well. The wines are then matured, a part in barrels for 12 months and another part in regular vats, to achieve a good balance. The diversity of soils is an important asset in the production of great wines at Château Bonneau Gouze, it provides all the necessary nutrients to the grape and gives the wines a complex character.
