Château Clos Chaumont is the story of a passionate and two families united in the effort and friendship …
Indeed, the Dutch Pieter Verbeek wishing to produce his own wine, bought the property almost abandoned in the early 90s. Since the first vintage produced in 1994, the whole team is working to make Clos Chaumont the best one of Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. Today, Pieter’s children have taken up the torch and continue the work of their father.*
Located in the village of Haux near Bordeaux, the vineyard of the Château enjoys an exceptional terroir and covers 13.5 hectares distributed as follows: 12 hectares of red grape varieties (53% Merlot / 25% Cabernet Sauvignon / 22% Cabernet Franc) and 1.5 hectares of white grape varieties (61% Sémillon / 39% Sauvignon gris).
All vineyard work is done largely manually to preserve the soil and obtain the best quality. The winery is composed of concrete and stainless steel vats and a wooden lightning. The two aging cellars welcome 225-liter oak barrels.
Everything is therefore done to separate grape varieties and parcels during fermentations, in order to respect the rhythm of the delicate chemistry that takes place during the first months following the harvest.
After vinification, the wines age in oak barrels for an average of 18 months for reds and around 9 months for whites.
The wines are:
A passion of Chaumont (red) – a micro-cuvée elaborated only during the best years and entirely vinified in barrels,
Château Clos Chaumont (red) – an elegant, fruity, medium-bodied and regularly awarded wine
Charmes de Clos Chaumont (red) – our second wine, seductive, fruity
Château Clos Chaumont white (dry) – a very fruity and slightly woody atypical white wine
If you want to taste their fantastic wines, you must plan your next trip in this area. Explore the vast vineyard and the winery.
The place is full of delicious surprises and leaves an unforgettable memory.
