The Ancient History of Château des Bachelards
Château des Bachelards once belonged to the Benedictine monks, as it is an estate with a thousand-year old history. For several years now Alexandra de Vazeilles, a graduate in oenology and viticulture, has been running the winery.
The Great Burgundian Terroir of Château des Bachelards
Château des Bachelards is the first domain of its appellations that is certified organic and biodynamic by Demeter. To the south, the winery features slices of Jurassic limestones and alluviums. In the north, the land is very much older, around three hundred million years old. The pink granite is the primary soil of the terroir. It’s the soil that helps the winery produce such an amazing variety of wines.
