Surrounded by Perfect Terroir with Distinct Wildlife
Located among the lush vineyards of Bergerac AOC, Chateau Lestevenie is a boutique winery on the limestone slopes of Gageac et Rouillac, producing limited but high-quality wines. Complimenting a hidden valley of oak woodlands, the estate-owned vineyard plot is nestled on a charming Dordogne hillside. The company’s wine range includes two reds, a white, a rosé, a sparkling, and a dessert.
Chateau Lestevenie is Managed Organically
Humphrey Temperley owns the Chateau Lestevenie wine estate. He takes pride in following biodynamic practices in the vineyard and cellar, keeping his wines’ organoleptic characteristics intact. The winery cultivates the vine plots with minimum interventions so that the wildlife has the best opportunities to flourish. They have around 16 species of wild orchid, kestrels, four species of owl, hoopoes, and so much more. Make sure to taste chilled wines while enjoying lovely views of Bergerac, butterflies, and flowers.
Modern Grape Farming and Winemaking Techniques
With respect to nature, the estate grows a wide array of grapes organically. It includes fruity Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, paired with high-quality Sauvignon Bland, Semillon, and Muscadelle. The winery team uses vessels and machinery to carry out every process in the cellar, combined with traditional methods. Within the cellar, tourists can find a separate room for storing wines in the barrels, lined up beautifully in rows.
