Old Frescoes Adorn the Beautiful Winery
One of the founding fathers of Vino Nobile, the Contucci winery got the appreciation of their wines by 1700. Over the years the winery has bagged many medals and awards. On this ancient inhabitant, Antonio Sangallo built the mansion in the 16th century, and Andrea Pozzo painted the Palace internally with frescoes. Today, the estate covers an area of 170 hectares, out of which 21 hectares is dedicated for the production of a variety of grapes.
Contucci Winery, Nestled Amongst Beautiful Scenery
The winery is surrounded by lush vineyards and beautiful sceneries of the countryside. The 15 hectares of vineyard land is dedicated to producing Vino Nobile. Some of the local grape varieties that Cuntucci grows are Sangiovese, locally called Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo Nero, Mammolo, Colorino, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasìa del Chianti, and Grechetto. The annual production of the estate is 100,000 bottles of wines. In addition to wines, the estate also produces Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Wine Production Carried Out with Complete Respect to Nature The harvesting of grapes is done manually, and only the best bunches are selected and moved to the cellar for further processing. In the cellar, large steel tanks are placed for the fermentation and various sizes of barrels for efficient refinement and aging. Each step of the winemaking process reflects a delicate and respectful process, keeping Mother Nature in mind.
