Medieval history of Domaines Mousset
The Chateau des Fines Roches has amazing crenellations and towers that speak volumes about the medieval past and heritage of the company. The renowned Chateauneuf-du-Pape vineyards originated in the region where the winery stands. The Mousset family owns the estate, with its complex structured buildings, famous for making fine wine generation after generation. The winery with the hotel is located in Provence, almost 10 Kilometers from Avignon.
Viticulture at the winery
The estate features an ancient castle, telling of Provencal architecture, that opens right into the vineyards. Since 1974, the castle has been a hotel and became a part of the wine estate in 1985. The vineyards offer a magnificent view, and the quality of grapes grown here is high. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Counoise, Muscardin, Carignan, Clairette, Roussanne, and Bourboulenc grapes here grow here and go into the wine production.
Production at the estate
Our production is very representative of Châteauneuf du Pape diversity : white and red Châteauneuf du Pape (two of them are 100% Grenache), red and rosé Côtes du Rhône, and white, rosé and red Vin de Pays (local wine). The cellar has 100-year old vats for fermentation, and ageing takes place in oak barrels. Visitors, especially couples, love staying at the hotel and checking out wines in the tasting room. Provence has been properly represented in the wines made at Domaines Mousset, without a doubt.
