The History of Famille Gonnet
In 1950, Etienne Gonnet created the Font de Michelle winery and planted vines on 30 hectares of land. The vineyards are located just southeast of the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. In 1970, after the death of their father, Jean and Michel took over the estate. For over 30 years, the Gonnet Family worked hard on improving the winemaking techniques. In 2002, following a great success, the family expanded the estate with a magnificent 20 ha vineyard in Côte du Rhône Village Signargues called La Font du Vent. The Gonnet Family rebranded the Domaine Font de Michelle as Font du Vent which symbolizes their family brand. The family at Famille Gonnet does everything possible to produce concentrated and fine organic wines that represent their exceptional terroir.
Winemaking at Famille Gonnet
In 2016, Bertrand and Guillaume, sons of Jean and Michel, took over the family business. Both studied viticulture and enology to gain more knowledge about soil and vines. They also traveled to many countries worldwide for experience and research. They managed to maintain the traditional winemaking techniques and family values and added new technologies to improve the quality of the wines. Since 2013, they have converted the vineyard and the winery to organic agriculture and obtained the official label.
