Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils, a Winery Story in Lovely Alsace

Originally a lumberjack, Gilbert Ruhlmann founded Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils winery in 1958 in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard. The first vintage, he sold the majority of his production in bottles to local suppliers. In 1962, after he married, he relocated to Scherwiller and decided to grow only three grape varieties on his small farm. In the 70s, Gilber built a new winery that produces incredible Alsatian wines. In the 80s, the winery expanded and planted seven grape varieties found in Alsace. In 1984, the first Crémant d’Alsace wine as well came to market.

Today, sons Guy and Pascal, continue the traditional winemaking at Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils. The winery is ideally located on the Wine Route, near the castle of Ortenbourg XII°s. The Haut Koenigsbourg terroir of the estate is granite or gravelly. The winery creates a unique collection of white wine, rosé, and sparkling wine from their vineyard. Alsace Gilbert Ruhlmann Fils produce their pleasant sweet wines using Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, and Muscat.
