The Azienda Agricola La Scolca, a hundred-year-old winery, is situated in the Gavi region of Alessandria province, dotted by the Apennine Mountains. Today, the winery is equipped with modern machinery, handled by expert winemakers, that allows the production of great wines under Gavi DOCG status. Due to its high-end wines, the winery was chosen to toast at the World Economic Forum in Davos, an important meeting attended by the world’s great leaders.
La Scolca Winery Provides an Old History
The La Scolca Winery was bought by the great-grandfather of Giorgio Soldati, a present owner, in the late 1920s. Today, along with his daughter, Chiara Soldati, the fifth generation is managing the functionality of the winery with great passion and dedication. During the time of purchase, the land was surrounded by forest, and some part of the estate was cultivated with wheat. Even in the 1900s, the property was best suited to grow vines, and since then, the Soldati family has been cultivating fruity Cortese vines in their vineyards.
Experience the Famous Gavi Wine
Respecting the nature, all the wine production processes, from cultivation of grapes to aging and bottling, the owner practices traditional methods, in combination with advanced tools and techniques. The famous Gavi wine, made from Cortese grapes in 1950, has become a unique symbol of the vineyards that cover an area of 50 hectares, with 200km of aromatic rows. These vineyards are beautifully standing on the grounds of Rovereto and Gavi, enjoying the sunshine and calm breezes. The estate of Azienda Agricola La Scolca is a certified producer of magnificent white and sparkling wines from 5-60 years old grape vines. The modernized cellar is equipped with computerized machinery that keeps a check of efficient aging of the wines and various other track records.
