Sode di Sant’Angelo Wine Estate – Situated in the middle of Tuscan’s Maremma Region between the beautiful Tuscany coast and the hills
The Sode di Sant’Angelo wine estate is ideally present in the hills of Montebamboli, in the middle of Tuscan’s Maremma region, between the beautiful Tuscany coast and the hills. The estate has 40 hectares of land in the Maremma DOC and includes vineyards, arable land, and olive groves. The land is famous since ancient times because of the presence of copper, lead, zinc, gypsum, etc. here. There is greenery all around, and the location offers magnificent views of nature.
Winery using Old Tuscan Traditions with Modern Innovative Techniques
The modern wine estate respects the old Tuscan traditions and combines it with advanced, innovative techniques to make wines with a great structure and intense aromas. This Tuscan region has a soil which is rich clay, silica, and other minerals. The presence of sea breeze and lack of rainfall creates a unique microclimate here. All these natural conditions provide perfect conditions for the growth of ripe grapes.
The Yield and Processing of the Grapes
The main grape varietals that grow here include Sangiovese, Merlot, Alicante, Viognier, and Vermentino. The drop in temperatures leads to the harvest of grapes with concentrated flavors, sugar, and acidity content. The yield of the grapes is low, and each cluster is allowed to ripe fully. The skin of the grapes keeps intact until they are processed in the cellar.
Their “Le Gessaie” has been recognized as the best Vermentino in Maremma for the last three years consecutively, and the Alicante Supertuscan “Dautore” won the Decanter Bronze medal.
Apart from making distinct regional wines, they also produce extra virgin olive oil.
