Miquel Oliver winery: on the beautiful island of Mallorca
The winery “Vinyes I Bodegues Miquel Oliver” is located in the municipality of Petra on the Balearic Island, Mallorca. It was founded in 1912 by Melchor Oliver. Miquel Oliver was one of the first wineries to introduce controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Today the fourth generation of the winery is run by his sons Jaume and Pilar Oliver
Behind every wine there is a story
Behind each of their wines, there is a story. Some of these wines are passed down from previous generations and others are born from their commitment to innovation and experimentation. But each one has its personality with its aromas and nuances, making it unique. And they are made with the same quality and passion.
The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vines in the DO area Plà I Llevant. In addition to the local varieties Callet, Fogoneu, Manto Negro and Prensal Blanco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Macabeo, Merlot, Muscat, Syrah, Tempranillo, and Syrah are also cultivated. Environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced. For example, herbicides replaced by mechanical and manual methods, and pesticides reduced to a minimum.
Best wines in the country
The rise of the winery began when the Unión de Sumilleres Española (Spanish Sommelier Association) named the “Gran Muscat Miquel Oliver 1994” wine the best wine in the country. The house is, therefore, more known for its white wines. The continued work of this family has led to be the first island company to bring to Mallorca a whole series of important national awards. More than 90 years of experience guarantee the quality of the wines of the Oliver family, which makes viticulture scrupulously respectful with the environment.
