The Ideal Terroir Surrounding Montioni Winery
The vineyards of Montioni Winery are located in a small village, Pietrauta. There, the sunshine hours and the soil are ideal for the growth and cultivation of vines. The growers use the spurred cordon technique that makes sure there is a low to medium production, and the quality is very high. The main varieties of grapes that grow here are Merlot, Sangiovese, Grechetto, and Sagrantino that go into producing their best red wines.

The best grapes are sent to the winery for further processing. After pressing the grapes, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature. The wine maturation takes place in 225 liters of wooden barrels. The flagship products of the winery are the Montefalco Rosso and the Sagrantino. The winery also produces extra virgin olive oil from the olive trees growing on the estate.
