Young and spirited Poggio Nicchiaia
Poggio Nicchiaia is a young, passionate, and spirited winery located in the magnificent Pisa hills, near the town of Peccioli in the beautiful Tuscan region. Their vineyards have all the prerequisites to produce high-quality nectars, recognized and awarded by greatest wine competitions, and exported/appreciated in more than 20 countries worldwide. They work with Tuscan traditions and try to represent the evolution of the tastes of their wines.
Ideal conditions for viticulture
The location in the hills of Pisa features a mild microclimate influenced by the nearby sea. The soil is of marine origin that is rich in sand and fossils. They own 50 hectares of top-quality vineyards that hold around 5000 vines per hectare. Sangiovese is the most common grape grown, but you will also find Vermentino, Toscano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. The cultivation focuses on improving the complexity and richness of the grapes. The best grapes are used to make red and white wines.
Technologically-advanced winery
The winery is equipped with modern technology and winemaking equipment. Every step, right from the harvest to the fermentation and ageing of wines, is taken with proper methods and care. The wines are made so that they reflect the identity of the region. A proper combination of tradition and innovation goes into the making of their wines that live up to the name of Tuscany. They produce five wines, where the creativity goes beyond the specification: a classic-textured Chianti Superiore DOCG, two superb Supertuscan, an IGT Tuscan red, and an IGT white Costa Toscana Vermentino.
