Quinta dos Roques, Winery Located in the Breathtaking Dão Region
Quinta dos Roques is a family-owned winery, located in the charming village of Abrunhosa do Mat. Between Mangualde and Nelas, in the breathtaking Dão region, the estate’s traditional vines enjoy the perfect microclimate.
Currently, Quinta dos Roques Winery exports 85% of its production to 15 nations around the world, such as Canada, Japan, and the U.S.A.
Installation of the Advanced Machinery
Although the family’s winemaking history is about a century old, a new seed germinated in Dão in 1980, and the tale of Quinta dos Roques began. Many new and advanced machines were installed in the winery, giving it a new face. Later after attaining consistency, Quinta dos Roques Winery installed electronic presses, stainless steel tanks, cooling devices, and wooden oak barrels. Today, the third generation manages Quinta dos Roques’ operations and has around 35 hectares of vineyards.
Top-Quality Wines made in the DOC Dão Region
The owner of Quinta dos Roques uses estate-owned grapes to produce unique and traditional Portuguese blends. With complete respect for tradition and culture, Quinta dos Roques cultivates six white varieties, three red, and three mixed vines of more than 40 years old grapevines. Grapes varieties include unique Malvasia Fina, Bical, Gouveio, Cerceal Barcelo, Encruzado, and Jaen. In addition, the winery grows Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Amarela. These grapes are fermented and converted into luscious red, white, and rosé wines, combined with top-quality blended sparkling wines, all made under DOC Dão regulations.
