Surrounded by Countryside & Immersed in Traditions
Located in the center of the Schilcherland, the SchilcherFriedrich Winery has its home in Western Styria’s St. Stefan obStainz wine region. The estate dedicatedly grows blue Wildbacher grape, for which it was crowned with triple national victories in ’96, ’97, and ’98. The Friedrich family has also won many awards for its SchilcherRosé and sparkling wines.
Schilcher Friedrich Winery’s Ancient Cellar House
First grape pressing in 1992, Isabella and Christian Friedrich started the winery as a part-time job. In later years, as the couple’s curiosity about the region laddered up, they took winemaking as a full-time activity. Today, the winery has an 1856-built old cellar, a modern tank cellar, and a perfectly tempered barrique basement. The wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks, equipped with temperature control devices.
Terroirs that Keep the Complexity and Aromas
Around eight hectares of vineyards, spread all over Western Styria, are located in Langegg, Kirchberg and Pirkhofberg. SchilcherWeingut Friedrich focuses on the cultivation of one grape variety, BlauerWildbacher, from which the estate produces top-class red, white, rose, sparkling, and dessert wines. The vines enjoy terroirs of thousands of years of the ancient rock layer, releasing awe-inspiring aromas with shiny finesse.
