Most Desirable Space to Grow Healthiest Fruity Grapes
Blossomed in charming Roncade, the Santomè winery is located in the Veneto-based wine region of Treviso, boasting its 75 hectares of vineyards in the heartland of Prosecco and Pinot Grigio country. The winery, surrounded by sun-drenched hillsides and rivers, enjoys mineral-rich terroirs and microclimate for the cultivation of grapes.
Grape Supplier to Building Santomè Winery
The story of Santomè was initiated by a member of the first generation of winegrowers, Antonio, who purchased four hectares in Vazzola and began growing grapes. Later, his son Armando expanded the traditional business by acquiring 28 hectares on the island od Papadopoli. That was the time when Armando became the most significant grape supplier to the Valdobbiadene Co-operative Winery. Finally, in 1995, the third generation member and current owner, Alan, joined his father and grandfather, giving a new direction to the business by establishing Santomè in 1999.
Growing Business Exponentially
Alan, along with brother William, has extended the family business on a whopping scale. Over the years, the brothers have bought 30 hectares in Roncade, three in Susegana, and ten in the municipality of Roncade, adding up to 75 hectares in total. They focus on the cultivation of several grape varieties, including Glera, Pinot Grigio, Tocai, Raboso, and Merlot. On some plots, the family has planted aromatic Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Today, Alan Alan Spinazzè handles all the wine production phases, while William Spinazzè manages sales.
Santomè encompasses the entire production, from harvesting to pressing, fermentation to modern bottling and barrel-aging. With a capacity of 13,000 hectoliters, the estate produces top-quality red, white, and sparkling wines. Tourists can marvel at 500-liter French oak casks and 25-liter oak and chestnut barrels in the barrel room.
