Tóth Ferenc Winery, Excellent Winemaking in Eger

Tóth Ferenc Winery is a family winery as several generations have worked together passionately to make excellent wines in Eger. Ferenc Toth is the founder of the winery and a passionate winemaker. He is the ambassador of the grape variety Kadarka, the wine Varvedo which means the ‘castle’s defender’, and many national and international awards. He started the winery along with his wife of fifty years.

He won the “Winemaker of the Year in Eger 2012” for his collection of exquisite wines.

One of Hungary’s Renowned Wine Regions

They aim to make wines by combining their traditional methods with modern and innovative processes. Eger is one of Hungary’s best wine regions, and the climate, soil, rainfall, and temperature are quite right for the cultivation of vines. The main varieties of grapes that grow in their vineyards include Egri Leányka, Királyleányka, Rajnai Rizling, Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Ottonel Muskotály, Kékfrankos, Kadarka, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. The best grapes are handpicked and used to produce their world-class red, white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines.

Development and Expansion of the Winery

Tóth Ferenc Winery started a development process in 2006 and began expanding its winery in 2010. Now there winery has a unique cellar system for the storage and aging of their wines. The wines have distinctive aromas, flavors and reflect the qualities and traditions of the Eger.
