Taste Excellent Wines of Dealu Mare DOC
Nestled on the historic land of Southern Romania, Vitis Metamorfosis is an old family-owned winery located in a beautiful village called Ungureni. Each wine recipe at the estate is created by a well-known oenologist and gold-medalist, Fiorenzo Rista. Some of his award-winning wines are red, white, and rose.
Vitis Metamorfosis Belongs to an Ancient Winemaking Family
Vitis Metamorfosis has been operating since 1385 under the leadership of the Antinori family. It was started by Giovanni di Piero Antinori. Over the centuries, the winery was passed onto 26 generations of the winemaking family. Today, Marchesi Piero Antinori owns the winery, supported by his three daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia. Every member of the Antinori family has brought something unique to the estate, making it one of the well-established and renowned wineries in Dealu Mare. Marchesi still follows the traditional wine production processes, falling into his ancestors’ footsteps.
The Continuous Progress Leads to Fruititous Outcomes
The family consistently worked in the vineyards to make them more productive. They grow indigenous and international grape varieties, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Feteasca Neagra, Syrah, Negru de Dragasani, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. The company reserved some plots to cultivate top-quality Feteasca Regala, Muscat Ottonel, Feteasca Alba, Chardonnay, and Tamaioasa Romaneasca. Unique vinification processes and fermentation under controlled temperatures take place to make sure grapes exhibit their organoleptic features. They use different types of wooden barrels, such as American and French, for wines to get a subtle wooden essence.
