Weingut Clemens Busch- Family Winery situated at the Heart of German Wine Country
Weingut Clemens Busch is situated in the beautiful Mosel in the Marienburg DOC in the heart of German wine country. The Weingut Clemens Busch winery and estate is a family owned and run winery that is located in Punderich in the middle section of the Mosel River.
The location of the winery, its climate and terroir give it the perfect conditions for the production of world class and award winning Riesling grape varietals.
This is also thanks to the slate filled slopes on which the vines are grown.
The best vineyards of Weingut Clemens Busch are located in the VDP Grosse Lage Pundericher Marienburg that is a steep slope across the river from the village of Punderich. The soil here varies between grey and red slate and provides the perfect base for the growth of many different grape varietals that can be used to produce wines of differing styles and unique characters.
Practicing Sustainability and Biodynamic Viticulture
One of the main focuses of the wine makers at Weingut Clemens Busch is organic wine growing and these practices are essential to the production of the best quality wines while still preserving and conserving the natural environment. This is done to ensure the sustainability of the land for future generations. The organic principles and practices at Weingut Clemens Busch have been active since 1984 and the family running the winery are also actively involved in studies on biodynamic viticulture and wine making. In order to express the character of the vineyards in the wine, the fermentations of the wines are influenced as little as possible. Often these fermentations are done using only the vineyards yeasts for as long as 8 months or even longer if necessary.
Weingut Clemens Busch is well respected for its dry wines including the Großes Gewächs (Great Growth), off-dry wines and the noble sweet botrytis wines.
