Zum Eulentrum Winery, Craft Winery in the Moselle Region
The Zum Eulentrum winery is present in the Moselle region and has a long tradition and history. The name of the winery comes from the nearby part of the town walls that still acts as a symbol of Briedel to this day. Matthias Schinnen first bottled wine in the 20th century, and in 1980, Hans Otto Stolben started making high-quality wines. In 2003, the old cellar ‘Felsenkeller’ was restored, and there was an extension of their steep vineyards. In 2013, Timo C. Stolben took over the winery and distillery. Since 2019, the winery has been certified organic and is known for the production of unique sparkling wines.
Felsenterrassen Trieren, Naturally Beautiful Vineyard Producing Excellent Wines
Their vineyards in the Felsenterrassen Trieren are naturally beautiful and help in making excellent wines. There is use of organic methods in the vineyards to protect nature and the health of vines. The soil and microclimate are perfect for the growth of grapes. There is no addition of fertilizers or pesticides in the land that allows the wines to retain a natural fruity taste and fragrance. The grape types that grow here are Riesling and Müller-Thurgau. Each step of the process is carried out by the team at the Eulenturm winery. The grapes are picked exclusively by hand from the famous, steep slopes of slate along the River Moselle. After the traditional bottle fermentation, the sparkling wine ages for at least 36 months before bottling. Their exquisite white, sparkling, and dessert wines reflect the features of the gifted Moselle terroir.
