Led by Carl van Wyk, you will not only taste our exquisite wines but also hear captivating stories about our wine philosophy and the history of our vineyards. Established in 1659, Olivedale Vineyards has a long tradition of vine cultivation. Our grapes are harvested two to three weeks later than in other regions, allowing for a longer ripening period. This careful process results in a stress-free sugar formation, enhancing the quality and flavor of our wines.

Olivedale is a magical place to linger and listen to the stories of winemaker Carl van Wijck. His extraordinary vision of producing wines overwhelmed us, no wonder his wines have won several awards. Our absolute "bangers" were the 2020 Roobernet and his 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, what a force of flavors and stories that kiss the tongue.

What an amazing time spend sharing stories with Maestro Carl while savoring exceptional wines. Olivedale Wine Tasting is a must. The #OldCodgers Golf Tour had Carl explained what mother nature offers to Olivedale Farm. Will definitely come back for a visit

After getting informed by a local Swellendam restaurant (De Vagebond) about their wines from Olivedale Private Vineyards we decided to contact Carl. Immediately we had a very nice chat and planned a visit to the vineyard. Carl is a really great person who has the perfect ability to talk about his wines and the processes. It is an understatement he has passion for his craft. The wine tasting consisted of 2 white wines (Verdejo, Chardonnay), 1 rosé and 3 red wines. The wine that stood out the most was the Roobernet. As someone who tasted a lot of wines: this was something different. We had great fun with Carl and his joy was infectious. Would recommend to visit this private vineyard if you are doing a tour through South Africa and the Garden Route. Thanks Carl!

What an amazing winery and hospitality at Olivedale. That evening we were recommended one of their wines at a local restaurant so we took the plunge and called the next day to ask if we could come by for a tasting. Usually it's nice to book well in advance but luckily we were able to pop in. Unfortunately we only had an hour but if you want to visit, make sure you take your time as winemaker Carl will teach you a lot about the philosophy, the wines and the surrounding area. We were really impressed with the Wild Melody and the Roobernet. We had never tried this special grape before as it comes from the site itself! It's a real shame we didn't have more time otherwise we would have definitely gone to the vineyards to learn even more. Be sure to visit if you get the chance and make sure you give yourself plenty of time!
