From Abbey to Wine Estate The Château Le Clos du Notaire’s aim to showcase the excellent terroir while producing the best vines and wines from them. The estate and the winery in Bourg-sur-Gironde north of Bordeaux city is managed by Amélie Osmond and Victor Mischler. It takes its name from Henri Coutin, a notary and son-in-law of the first owner Maître Menard. In the 14th century, however, there was an abbey in this location that during the time transformed into the winery.
