A super visit!
The tour guide was very friendly... the place is sober but real and we tasted lots of very nice wine, and had a great discussion (in English) about wine with the guide... loved it!

Great day and really engaging visit
A true and genuine experience of the activity and process involved. It was great to see an earthy and true understanding of wine making from the vines, through to the bottling and storage. Finished with a 10 wine tasting, going through the types and cuveees. Excellent day and excellent hosts.

Authentic, knowledgable in a stunning location with superb wines!

The vineyard is situated in a beautiful location that is easy to access with ample parking. We booked a tour and tasting for three adults. We decided not to bring our children (age 7 and 11), although in hindsight the tour would have been accessible and interesting for them. In the tasting area I spotted a table with children’s games and books, therefore the venue is catered to entertain children during the tasting session. David, our guide, was extremely welcoming. His English was excellent and his passion for his profession was clear. Such a lovely person who made us feel settled - the tour was relaxed but full of detail. The experience was authentic; we witnessed staff working in preparation for an unusually early harvest, due to the recent unprecedented heatwaves. The area in which the wine is made used to be old farm buildings. You would never know such equipment existed inside such old and beautiful farm buildings! The wines were exceptional, with many prestigious French wine awards. We would fully recommend! A must, in fact!

On a weekend in the region, we booked a tasting and were not disappointed! Free tasting, great choice of wines (red, white, rosé and the famous Monbazillac), all with a first class host (thank you Vincent!). We really had a great time and will come back with great pleasure!

Recently I tasted this wonder of pure Muscadelle. This 2011 Monbazillac showed the full potential of the respectable Muscadelle, historically considered the hallmark of the original Monbazillac. The sad thing is that it has become rare in its preferred appellation. It must be said that this grape variety is picky in cultivation and the small size of its berries makes harvesting difficult when selecting noble grains. This know-how has been lost over time, previously staff were recruited exclusively for the harvest of this grape variety. After this presentation, we must talk about the wine itself of the 2011 vintage. I have never tasted such a refined and balanced Monbazillac. Apricot and wine peach seduce the nose, on the palate there are almonds, sweet caramel and a real hint of chervil/fresh coriander on the finish. At the end of 2024, the balance was right. The sugar has melted perfectly, the finish is juicy as desired. I encourage the Christian Roche team to repeat the experience of 100% Muscadelle Monbazillac, although I am aware of the difficulty of cultivation. It would be a shame if the 2011 vintage was the only vintage ever produced with this proportion of Muscadelle. I also tasted a 2003 vintage on the estate: the Semillon tasted intensely apricot and caramelized, with lots of mirabelle tart on the nose. Generous and opulent on the palate, but without heaviness. The range is qualitatively homogeneous, although I am weak enough to recommend the Pet Nat (bubbles! Be careful when opening), the Extase in dry white. Thank you to the entire team at l'Ancienne Cure for offering us such unforgettable wines.

We were very well received and the tasting of the wines produced by this estate is very interesting. The wines are fine, original. A little favorite for L'Extase Monbazillac 2015.
