Clos La Petite Croix is a winery in the region of Lalande-de-Pomerol in Bordeaux, France. The vineyard is the smallest in France with a vinification cellar (at .38 hectares), and it is cared for by the current master Pierre Brunot with devotion as if it were a home garden. The estate was founded in 1956 by Brunot’s grandfather. From a young age, Brunot spent his summer holidays at the Clos La Petite Croix estate with his grandfather, falling in love with viticulture and learning the art of winemaking on the property he now tends. Burnot has worked together with the renowned oenologist Emmanuel Villega of Bordeaux, and their collaborative vintages received positive feedback.
Clos La Petite Croix is on the right bank of the Garonne River, and is a forebearer and support to the number of new growers now prospering in the Lalande-de-Pomerol AOC. The particular soil, made up of clay and gravel like the bordering Pomerol, as well as sand deposited by the Garonne, and the microclimate of the region created by the nearby Dordogne river is particularly suited to growing grapes for red wine. The small idyllic vineyard produces Merlot and Cabernet-Franc from which they produce their acclaimed signature Clos La Petite Croix Lalande de Pomerol vintage. Pierre Brunot has recently opened a tasting room so wine lovers can discover the small and well-preserved estate. Clos La Petite Croix’s wines, produced traditionally in small scale, have home-grown character yet international quality.
