Unbelievable Premier Crus

The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation produces red wines and white wines in 41 Premier Cru climates in Burgundy, East of France. It extends over the municipalities of Premeaux-Prissey and Nuits-Saint-Georges, with 3.10 square kilometers in total. The vineyards consist of two distinct parts, one, north of Nuits-Saint-Georges, near the Vosne-Romanée appellation; the other connects the two communes in a north-south orientation.

Must Go Place in Burgundy

To the north, on the slopes of the Meuzin valley, the soils are composed of cobbled silts from the coast or alluvial deposits of the valley when they are not too high. The southern silts come from the valley of Vallerots and constitute a deep soil of marls and limestones.

The exposure of these vineyards varies from south-east to east. The producers produce some 1,260,000 liters of wine every year, divided between whites from Chardonnay as the main grape variety and red from Pinot Noir as the majority grape in Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The color of the reds is intense, purple drawing towards the mauve. Depending on their age, the aroma is cherry, strawberry, and blackcurrant (young), developing towards leather, truffle, fur, and game, as they age.

Exceptionally Balanced Wines

Their structure is balanced and robust, and as they round off sensually with age, they deserve a few years of care. The Chardonnay gives the whites a deep golden robe and brioche and honeyed bouquet with white flowers hints. They are firm and heady wines.
