Vineyards have thrived in this area since medieval times, thanks to the local knowledge of the land's sun exposure. After a long hiatus, the vineyards were revived in 1995 by Gérard Samson, a dedicated winemaker with extensive training and experience across Europe. His passion for wine and understanding of terroir have played a crucial role in the winery's success.

Winemaking at Domaine Arpents Du Soleil began with a modest 1.5-hectare vineyard, producing its first wine in 1998. The wine quickly gained recognition from a popular wine guide, generating excitement around the winery. Over the years, the vineyard expanded to 3 hectares in 1998, 5 hectares in 2010, and currently spans 6.6 hectares since 2015. The winery produces both red and white wines, utilizing grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Melon, Müller-Thurgau, and Sauvignon Gris.

We had a very nice experience in this vineyard. We were allowed to take a walk along the vines and enjoy the breathtaking view. Afterwards, we were given a relaxed explanation of the wines. Then we were allowed to taste the wines! The owners are very friendly and talk passionately about their profession. And not unimportant: the wines are delicious! We will definitely come back when we can!

The wine itself isn't all that amazing; very sour and perhaps even bitter.
The owner however is such a gentleman and so passionate about his work that I just have to rate it +3 stars.

We are big wine lovers, we traveled a lot on wine routes in the world, this week for the first time we tasted wine from the Normandy region at this winery and we were very excited! Rich taste! The winery staff was very nice and welcoming, thank you very much!

Visit on Wednesday, July 3. Vineyard with a superb view of the valley. Welcoming owner, passionate and interesting to listen to in the history of the vineyard. Wine tasting that allowed us to discover noble and light wines.

The winemaker who took over the estate is very motivated to preserve the heritage but also to ensure the future of Normandy wines. Pinot Noir never tires of surprising wine lovers and the white wines are not far behind. To be discovered.

The wine is a bit pricey for 500 ml but well worth a visit. Admittedly, my perspective is as a South African, with a very weak Rand and, lovely in expensive wines back home. Still - they are a great helpful bunch who took the effort to overcome language barriers as well. Our friends with Euros and Pounds bought quite a bit of wine.
