Blaxsta: one of Sweden’s first wineries
The Blaxsta is one of Sweden’s first wine factory and winery that comprises of 3.5 hectares of vineyards. The winery is located in a 17th century barn which preserves most of the old tradition and charm. Even the wine cellar dates back to the 16th century and has undergone renovation recently. Apart from the wine cellar, there is also the Restaurant Blacke and an exclusive hotel for guests. One can enjoy all the facilities here and visit the restaurant for a great meal and wine tasting.
The Most Northern Winery in the World
Located in the Södermanlandregion, it is considered as the most northern winery and vineyards in the world. The area receives 25% more sunlight hours than Bordeaux and has different soil. The climate and the soil make the region perfect for the cultivation of vines. The non-grafted vines help in making cold fermented, natural wines that haave a great aroma and are velvety smooth. Merlot, Vidal Blanc, and Chardonnay are the grape varietals used to make their famous red, white, and dessert wines.
Taste some great Ice wines
They have also planted some Cabernet Franc seedlings whose cultivation is increasing year after year. It is the first commercial winery that makes use of Swedish grapes exclusively. The balance between sugar and acid is great in their wines. Their prestige wine, Vidal Select Harvest ice wine, has received Grand Gold four times at the International Wine World Challenge.
Their restaurant, opened in 2005, is a great place to relish wines along with authentic and fresh local food
