Götz Winery: Where Tradition Meets Innovation

Götz Winery is a proud family-owned estate situated in the picturesque Upper Hungary region. Spanning 20 hectares, our vineyards are strategically located across six prime areas, allowing us to produce a diverse range of Tokaj wines. Our offerings include fresh and vibrant Tokaji Furmint, aromatic Sárgamuskotály, and exquisite late harvest wines. For our Szamorodni and Aszú, we utilize traditional wooden barrel maturation, ensuring a rich flavor profile. With decades of expertise in grape cultivation, we implement careful crop management, late harvesting, and gentle processing to maintain the high quality of our wines. Notably, the cellars in Hercegkút have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.

Our guest reception cellar on Gombos Hill can host up to 200 visitors, making it an ideal spot for wine tastings and events. At Götz Winery, we continuously blend traditional winemaking techniques with modern technology. Whether you prefer light and youthful wines or full-bodied and characterful selections, you will find a wine that suits your palate.

Beautiful cellars, one of them is almost always open to the public. They can prepare for you the tasting, and you can pay in Euros or by card which is a big plus. English menus are available as well. Overall, a nice site, more open cellars would help improve the atmosphere

The Götz winery in Hercegkút is simply unique! The directness and friendliness we experienced here is a rarity these days. From the first moment you feel that guests are not just being served, but really cared for. Their friendly manner and attentiveness create a unique atmosphere that makes the whole experience unforgettable. The wines are of course impeccable, but the real specialty is the spirit of the place and the hospitality. I can warmly recommend it to everyone, in an unusual place!

The Gotz company is one of the wineries still in operation in Hercegkut. You enter and after a short descent you arrive in a large, very impressive room carved into the rock. The tasting of 6 wines costs 10,000 forints, about €25, and covers the range from dry to sweeter wines. There is not much information in English and so it is better to arrive with information about the types of wine. Possibility to purchase wines.
