It is a boutique winery on the family property of Italian immigrants descendants dedicated to viticulture for more than five generations in Brazil. Their winemaking methods consist of minimal intervention to maximize the grape’s natural expression and terroir origin. Privileged by a balanced ecosystem, the Lidio Carraro Winery has its headquarters in Vale dos Vinhedos, in Bento Gonçalves. Surrounded by charming landscapes, the family-owned vines hold the best position in the Rio Grande’s two winegrowing regions.

Lidio Carraro, a Leading Winery in Brazil

In 1875, the Carraro Family from Veneto, Italy, arrived Brazil and settled in Bento Gonçalves in the Rio Grande do Sul. They started cultivating grapes and producing wines for special family events and celebrations. In the 1970s, the estate became a pioneer leader of the Merlot variety in the Serra Gaúcha. The full-fledged modern winery was built in 2001 by Lidio Carraro, with only seven hectares of vineyards. Today, the family owns over 200 hectares, located in the finest wine zones of Brazil.

The vineyards in Vale dos Vinhedos started producing vines in 2002. Some other grape growers reside in Serra do Sudeste in Encruzilhada do Sul, where the owner grows an extensive range of grapes. They include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Nebbiolo, Tannat, and Pinot Noir. Some vineyards hold Cabernet Franc, Touriga Nacional, Chardonnay, Riesling Itálico, Teroldego, Moscato, Tempranillo, and Moscato Bianco. Their high-quality red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines help preserve the family’s conventional wine production methods in the region.
