The Obene Winery Story
Obene Winery is a cherished family-owned estate nestled in the village of Mukhuri, located in the Chkhorotskhu Municipality of Western Georgia. The winery specializes in crafting wines from indigenous Western Georgian grape varieties. Owner and winemaker Mikheil Tsirdava produces a limited selection of wines, capping production at 60,000 bottles annually. Each wine is crafted using the traditional Georgian qvevri method, along with other ancient winemaking techniques. Currently, Obene Winery cultivates 4 hectares of vineyards, showcasing the rich terroir of the region.

The Wines of Obene Winery
Obene Winery offers a selection of wines under the labels of Krakhuna, Ojaleshi, Otskhanuri Sapere, and Tsolukauri. The Krakhuna wine, from the 2018 vintage, is a dry white with delightful notes of orange zest and caramel. The Ojaleshi, a dry red from the 2016 vintage, features aromatic hints of rosemary, lavender, and berries. The Otskhanuri Sapere, also a dry red from the 2018 vintage, boasts a 14% alcohol content, with flavors of plum and blueberries complemented by spicy lilac aromas. Lastly, the Tsolukauri, a dry white wine from the 2018 vintage, has a 13.5% alcohol level, showcasing the unique characteristics of this grape variety.
