Experience Premium Wines Crafted with Care and Tradition
The Story of Viña Chocalán
Viña Chocalán was founded by Guillermo Toro, a passionate winemaker with a rich history in the wine industry as a bottle supplier for over 60 years. His vision was to create a winery that combined his love for wine and glass, leading to the establishment of Viña Chocalán, a name that means "yellow buds" in the local dialect. The winery's first harvest took place in 2001, followed by the construction of a state-of-the-art wine cellar in Melipilla. Today, Viña Chocalán is celebrated for producing premium red and white wines, with the next generation continuing to honor Guillermo's legacy and dedication to winemaking.
The Magnificent Vineyards of the Winery
Viña Chocalán boasts two stunning vineyards located in the Maipo Valley and San Antonio, specifically in the Malvilla area. Spanning 340 hectares, these vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate created by the proximity to the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean, just 35 km away. The sea breeze contributes to significant temperature variations between day and night, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and develop rich flavors. The amphitheater-shaped vineyards receive sunlight for 300 days a year, resulting in high-quality red wines with vibrant colors and natural acidity. The San Antonio vineyard, located only 15 km from the sea, produces elegant white wines characterized by balanced fruit, minerality, and refreshing salty notes.
