Founded in 1822, Weingut Helmut Maglock is set to celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2022. Remarkably, this family-owned winery has remained under the stewardship of the Maglock family throughout its history. Today, Maximilian, a member of the latest generation, is actively involved in the family business, blending traditional methods with modern innovations. Since the 2020 harvest, the winery has proudly held the Vegane Gessellschaft Österreich certification, allowing them to officially label their wines as vegan-friendly.
Weingut Helmut Maglock is situated in the Kamptal wine region, northwest of Vienna. This area, along with Wachau and Kremstal, is celebrated for producing some of Austria's finest wines. Kamptal is particularly known for its exceptional white wines made from Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. At Weingut Helmut Maglock, visitors can enjoy a diverse selection, including not only white wines but also red and rosé options crafted from local and international varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Weissburgunder, commonly known as Pinot Blanc.
The Maglock family is dedicated to sharing their wines with enthusiasts and often hosts tastings while participating in international wine competitions. Notably, in 2016, their rosé wine was the only entry from German-speaking countries to win a gold medal at the prestigious “Le Mondial du Rosé” competition in France. This recognition highlights the winery's commitment to quality and excellence in winemaking.

Maglocks are a winemaker institution in Strass, they are known for their sophisticated wines, especially the white variety. I recommend a visit to Weinkontraste, a regional wine seller, or directly to the winemakers themselves.
