Beautiful small setting, hidden slightly past franschoek cellar (just follow the road down from the parking area) GREAT SERVICE! Had a very knowledgeable lady telling us the history and the other staff were friendly and made us feel extremely welcome which was great! Miss the old backsberg which had a beautifull building and gardens and restuarant but this new setting is a mix of old and new!

Amazing place for vine testing and just chilling in the middle of the lazy day. The 4.4 rating by google is misleading because it is affected by reviews older than 3 years. Almost all reviews for the last free years are five stars. And this place deserves for 5 stars!!!

I had the pleasure of visiting Backsberg Family Wines yesterday, and it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the estate’s aesthetics—beautifully maintained with a perfect blend of classic charm and modern elegance. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it an ideal setting to relax and enjoy quality wine. The hospitality was top-notch, with staff who were both knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming. They took the time to share insights about the wines, enhancing the tasting experience. Speaking of the wines—each one I tried was a standout, reflecting the passion and craftsmanship that goes into their production. Overall, Backsberg offers an excellent balance of great wines, a stunning setting, and wonderful service. I’ll definitely be making another visit soon!

Lovely setting! Wine advisers were all knowledgeable and friendly. Views were stunning and the lawn games are an added benefit. We did the Express Tasting which was great value for money. The staff were great at recommending wines and explaining their offering. Our waitress Carine was lovely and did a great job. We thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience. Lovely outdoor seating with plenty of umbrellas for shade and fire pits for colder evenings. Will definitely return! Great job Backsberg!
