This is such a gem of a place. We came unannounced due to cell service issues. (don't recommend) But Mitre's edge allowed us to join the tasting in the epic cellar. It was so fun to taste small production wine, and the winemaker made cheese pairings that were so spot on. I've never had pairings that worked so well together. Was an enjoyable time! She also gave us incredible recommendations based on what we enjoyed on which other wineries in the area to visit We bought a few bottles and these amazing cases for traveling wine back to the states. Thanks so much for the hospitality Mitre's Edge!

Mitre’s Edge is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived for the wine tasting, we felt the warm, personable, and family-oriented vibe that sets this vineyard apart. The team made us feel right at home, taking the time to guide us through their incredible selection with such care and passion. I couldn’t resist picking up three bottles for my dad, a true wine connoisseur, and they were a huge hit over Christmas! He loved every sip and even asked where he could get more. Thank you, Mitre’s Edge, for creating such a memorable experience and sharing your beautiful wines with us. Highly recommend!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the Simonsberg cottage, a recently refurbished accommodation right next to the estate’s main building. The room itself was clean and well-appointed. Included in the price was a wine and cheese tasting which we enjoyed a lot. Lola and her team were friendly, and we loved the presence of several dogs, especially Arthur, the Irish Wolfshound. Three things hold us back from giving the fifth star, though: 1) The cottage is located next to the parking lot, with material and workers around. Not a nice view, and not a lot of privacy either. This wasn’t reflected on the booking sites. From a vineyard accommodation we had expected a more idyllic setting. 2) The included breakfast was very frugal. Compared to other accommodations on our trips through South Africa, it was definitely on the lower end. 3) The biggest drawback was the condition of the sheets and pillows, with multiple stains throughout. When we discovered this late in the evening, it was already too late to reach somebody and request a change. We could have done with one or two washed-in spots, but it really was beyond an acceptable level. However, four stars for the overall stay experience. With more transparency about the location and views, more love for the breakfast and a better cleanliness of the linens this place can surely go five stars in the future.

Great pool house. The apartment consists of a bedroom and a combination of living room, dining room and kitchen. Everything is there. The terrace has space for grilling and relaxing. The accommodation includes a large pool and an indoor hot tub. The hosts were so friendly and looked after us well. The breakfast was very good. A highlight is the pool table in the dining table.
