Experience Over 50 Years of Winemaking in the Coastal Plains of Israel
The Story of Binyamina Winery
Binyamina Winery, established in 1952 by Joseph Zeltzer, has a rich history rooted in passion and resilience. Zeltzer, a Hungarian immigrant, named the winery Eliaz in honor of his son who lost his life during Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. Initially, the winery focused on sweet wines, simple table wines, and liqueurs, using grapes exclusively from the Carmel region.
Though privately owned, the winery changed hands multiple times until the mid-1990s, attracting interest from bankers, real estate professionals, and filmmakers who recognized its significance as a symbol of agriculture, industry, and Zionism in Israel.
Quality Wines from Exceptional Vineyards
Since its inception, Binyamina Winery has evolved significantly. Today, it sources high-quality grapes from vineyards across Israel, including the Golan Heights, Upper Galilee, Lower Galilee, Judean Hills, and even the southern regions. This diverse sourcing allows the winery to produce a wide range of wines that reflect the unique terroirs of each area.
The winery's team believes that great wine starts in the vineyard. They invest considerable effort in finding the best plots and collaborating with skilled vintners and farmers to cultivate the finest grapes. This commitment to quality ensures that every bottle of Binyamina wine showcases the true essence of Israeli winemaking.
