The Great History of the Família Salton
Antonio Domenico Salton began the tradition of vine cultivation in 1878 when he left Italy and moved to Brazil for better opportunities. After vinifying informally for many years, Antonio got help from his sons, which later indulged in their father’s business. In 1910, the Salton Family acquired its formal certification for wine production, mainly creating sparkling wines and vermouth. Currently, the fourth generation of the Salton Family handles the estate’s operations with great respect for their forefathers.
Today, boasting a tradition of over a century, Família Salton Winery is recognized as one of the leading wineries in Brazil.
Winemaking at the Família Salton Winery
Creating high-quality wines is the top priority of the winery as the Salton Family takes excellent care of the vineyards. A broad range of vines is grown without chemicals and picked by hand during the harvest. Their varieties include excellent Ancelota, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malbec, Marselan, and Merlot. The vineyards are also comprised of aroma-rich Moscato, Pinot Noir, Glera, and Riesling, paired with Sauvignon Blanc, Tannat, Teroldego, Trebbiano, and Viognier. Using these vines, the company produces flagship sparkling wines, together with luscious red, white, rosé, and dessert wines.
