The Story of the Winery
Going since 1947, Namaqua Wines takes its name from the Namaqua West Coast region - an area famous for its unexploited coastal strip that is colored with wildflowers during spring. According to the history books, the first documented sale of wine in the Namaqua West Coast region was penned by the French explorer Francois le Vaillant in the late 18th century.

Located at Spruitdrift Wine Cellars just outside Vredendal, the venue lends itself to a relaxing environment – an ideal location to sit back and enjoy a variety of wines from our Tasting Room. Inside our kitchen, our chef’s team imaginatively crafts delicious dishes inspired by local flavors, from burgers and steak to more traditional, classic specialties.
