Paumanok Winery, Striving for Excellent and Elegant Wines

Established in 1983, Paumanok is an estate winery located on the North Fork of Long Island owned and operated by the Massoud Family. From its inception, Paumanok Winery’s focus has been to grow the highest quality wines, displaying the potential of New York winemaking. Paumanok’s guiding philosophy is that only the healthiest, ripe grapes will produce excellent wine and no substitute for quality.

The Winery Owners and Their Vision

Charles and Ursula Massoud run the winery along with their three sons. Their winemaking style resembles Old World traditions as they continuously use their historical methods combined with innovative technology to craft excellent wines. The winery has a modern and state-of-the-art production facility outfitted with the best machines and technology, including a fermentation room, lab, and a spacious tasting room for their guests.

Paumanok Winery’s vineyards are present in the region’s premium locations that enjoy an Atlantic Ocean influence on the climate. The soils and rainfall in the region are ideal for the cultivation of vines.

Only 1100 to 1500 vines are planted per acre, reducing the yield and ensuring grapes with intense aroma and generous flavor complexity. The common grape varieties grown include Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot.

Quality and Dedication Rewarded

The winery staff selects the best grapes to make their distinct red, white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines. Paumanok Winery has been recognized with numerous accolades over the years, including wine service at the White House and NY Wine & Food Classic’s “Winery of the Year” Award.
